| From 12-13 August 2009, the ASEAN NewsMaker Project was carried out in Yangon, Myanmar, in the building formerly occupied by MRTV3 before it was moved to its new office in Naypyidaw. This is the fifth leg of the project and it was attended by 50 participants from various institutions and organizations. Among them were students, university lecturers and tutors as well as journalists. The opening addresses were given by U Myint Aung, Director of MRTV 4 and Mr. Benson Loo, CEO and Co Founder of EyePower Games. |
Like participants from other countries, the Burmese participants were taught how to use the NewsMaker software and over the two-day workshop, they used the software to produce videos about their country and culture, on topics that ranged from tourist attracts to rites and rituals and others.
At the end of the second day, the videos are judged by U Myint Aung, Daw Khine Sabai (from MRTV 3) and Mr. Benson Loo. The best 4 videos were chosen and among them, the top 2 videos emerged as the overall winners. All 4 teams won prizes sponsored by EyePower Games. Each participant was also given a letter of appreciation for participating in this project.
Before the event concluded, a raffle was conducted, generating excitement and laughter. Three lucky winners were picked and each won a Creative Vado Pocket Video Recorder sponsored by Creative Technology.
This fifth leg of the ASEAN NewsMaker Project was successfully concluded with a closing address by U Myint Aung.
