A panel of teachers from across the United States judged the entries for the award and they have given NewsMaker excellent reviews.
NewsMaker provides students an easy, affordable, and fun platform to practice writing, speaking, and presentation skills. NewsMaker is neither grade-level specific nor content-area specific. It is a tool to help students improve their communication skills while mastering content in any subject area. With NewsMaker, students take on the role of news anchor and producer, creating their own story in 3 easy steps: Write! Read! Publish! And with NewsMaker, the learning doesn't have to end in the classroom! At home, the whole family can join in creating stories to share with friends and relatives around the world!
It is a great honor for NewsMaker to win this award, especially when teachers from across the United States gave this award after using NewsMaker in their classroom. A great testimony by these teachers that shows NewsMaker really works!
NewsMaker and other award winners will be featured in Learning Magazine’s January 2010 issue, and on their website for a year, beginning in January.
History of the Teachers’ Choice Awards In 1994, Learning Magazine introduced the first Teachers’ Choice Awards program. Over the years, the program has grown to become one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in the educational market.
How are the products evaluated? A team of teachers evaluates each product in the classroom. The products are evaluated on quality, instructional value, ease of use, and innovation.
How are the winners selected? Each product is evaluated on its own merit. Only those products that meet the teachers’ stringent standards are chosen to receive a Teachers’ Choice Award.
