Digitales Award 2009
Saturday, 21 November 2009 00:00
The Digitales Award 2009 was held at the Woodlands Regional Library on 21 Nov 2009. The award was an innovative competition that provides students from the N6 School Cluster in Singapore an opportunity to participate in an interactive story writing process.

Organised by Janus Education, and with EyePower Games as its technology partner, Digitales Award 2009 used the NewsMaker software to give students a fun and exciting platform to unleash the writer, artist, storyteller, and techie in them, that at the same time, helped develop their writing, speaking and presentation skills too.

The participants, aged between 10 and 12, were divided into 2 categories – the Primary School Category and the Secondary School Category. They used the NewsMaker software to create in English their video-based entries based on three themes – Economic Crisis, Gaming and Sports Value. The submitted entries were reviewed by the panel of judges and the three best entries from each category were then selected. The creators of these winning entries received their cash prizes from the Guest of Honour of the event, Mr Michael de Silva, Deputy Director, Schools Division, Educational Leadership Development Centre, Ministry of Education, Singapore. All participants of Digitales 2009 received their letters of participation from Mrs Esther Mok, the superintendent of the N6 School Cluster.
